In one of my lecture session, I raised a question:
What is business success?
The trainee entrepreneurs started answering this question.
We discussed their replies in detail and the lecture turned into a brain storming session. Naturally, every brain storming session must culminate into a bright sparkling idea.
What Is Success?
Achieving the Goal:
Success means achievement of the goal after a period of toiling. We delegate our efforts along with necessary business inputs and ideas and strive hard to achieve our aim. When we attain the goal with reasonable level of positive results, we call it a success.
Bringing Profit:
If our business idea gives back more capital return than the investment after some time, then we say we are successful in the venture. Profit is getting more return than the investment. This may be in percentage or in bulk.
Getting Satisfied:
Mental satisfaction is most important success component. We derive this satisfaction not always from monetary gains. An award winner gains a value by name and popularity than money value. This could give immense satisfaction and great feeling of success. In course of time, the name, fame and popularity will associate with the money making program automatically.
Enjoying Happiness:
We know happiness is always a success. However, success is not always happiness. You feel successful when you get happiness out of some means. Nevertheless, every successful venture has painful course of action before the end.
Getting Progress and Growth:
In any planned venture systematic progress and anticipated growth in size or volume of business brings a winning note. The increase in sales turnover is a success provided it results in more revenue.
Increased sales should accompany with all other security factors like more profit, less pilferage, low overhead expenses etc.
Creating More Income and Wealth:
We can generate more income through more profit ratio. Big giants generate massive income through less profit ratio, but with huge turnover.
There are two ways:
Providing great comforts at luxurious prices for a select group of people is one way. Another way is providing acceptable comforts at lowest prices for a bigger crowd is another way.
Both will create more income and wealth.
Winning the Game:
In business, achieving more business than the competitor in that area may be a winning message. Getting more people into our business is the real success. Creating an atmosphere that will absorb more customers and deliver their needs in good number is the secret of success.
All in One:
Finally, I asked them to tell a single word that will be acceptable to every one in substitute for success. Take care to see that it should bring all the above characters of success together: Achievement, profit, satisfaction, happiness, progress, growth, income, wealth, winner’s ego.
These are the components of success.
Money brings all:
No doubt, money can bring all when it accompanies with the business in every stage of its growth. At the end, the surplus money available will convert itself into the components of success. We attain every thing only when we earn the money.
The question to the entrepreneur is:
How much you want to earn:
I know, you want to make big money and that should grow bigger and bigger. Only a big money can satisfy all your needs in business and domestic life. Nothing can match or replace the real value of money. Therefore, a great ambition to earn a big money is neither wrong, nor impossible. Aspire for it! Dream for it! You will get it in the near future with our new business strategy!
